The Farewell
Created by 2X Grammy winner - Tamika Lawrence
A live cinematic music experience that merges concert, film, and performance art into an abstract, surreal psycho-thriller.
Featuring an original mixtape performed with a live band, the piece draws on elements of Afrofuturism and camp to balance beauty, absurdity, and unease. Drawing inspiration from the cinematic worlds of John Waters, Wes Anderson, and Spike Lee, the show confronts the artist’s existential horror by blurring the line between cinema and performance in a world that is intimate, unsettling, and darkly playful.

About Tamika

Tamika Lawrence is a two-time Grammy Award–winning singer, writer, and actor whose voice has become one of the most distinctive forces in contemporary musical theater and live performance.

She has earned four Grammy nominations and two wins for her work on the Dear Evan Hansen and The Greatest Showman soundtracks. On stage, she has appeared in 13 Broadway and Off-Broadway productions, including Come From Away, Dear Evan Hansen, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, Caroline, or Change, If/Then, Matilda, The Book of Mormon, and Gettin’ the Band Back Together. She received Drama Desk and Lortel nominations for her performance in Black No More, written by Black Thought and John Ridley.

Known for her soaring, soul-piercing vocals and razor-sharp comedic and dramatic instincts, Tamika moves seamlessly between rock concert, Broadway stage, and intimate cabaret.

Her independently released albums UGLY (2017) and Two Faced (2020) earned critical acclaim for their raw honesty and genre-defying sound.
